Edward Elgar, Gustav Holst, Georg Frideric Handel. Those are just some names that come to mind when thinking about great musical minds from Great Britain. For the Tübinger Saxophon-Ensemble there is, however, one important name missing: Harry D. Bath. Born in Portsmouth and serving in Germany as a military musician he stayed and quickly became a renowned conductor of symphonic wind orchestras. In addition he conducted the Tübinger Saxophon-Ensemble for 13 years and lead the group to national and international success in this period.
In this sense the Tübinger Saxophon-Ensembles returns to its roots in June 2019 when the group sets sails for Great Britain. Luckily the island has a rich culture of Saxophone Ensembles on its own and we are happy to be invited by great ensembles and to make music together while meeting great people on the way. Furthermore, the Tübinger Saxophon-Ensembles supports the fight against cancer with special charity concerts.
We are looking forward to spread our message of the classical saxophone in Great Britain and visit the home of great composers AND conductors.
